Slovenia: Small Market, Strong DMO Presence
Slovenia is the smallest market in our study — 99 websites audited. But its destination marketing organizations punch well above their weight.
The DMO advantage: Slovenia.info and VisitLjubljana.com produce a DMO citation rate of 10.4% — equal to Austria and far above the five-country average. For a small market, this is remarkable. It means Slovenian properties benefit from strong institutional support in AI search.
The concentration risk: Top 10 domains hold 33.3% of all citations — the highest concentration of any market. Only 837 unique domains were cited. This means breaking in is harder, but those who do earn disproportionate visibility.
The standout properties: Three independent Slovenian properties crack the top 15 most-mentioned companies in the entire dataset: Hotel Cubo Ljubljana (67 mentions), Hostel Celica (46), and City Hotel Ljubljana (44). What they share: distinctive concepts, strong TripAdvisor presence, Wikipedia entries, and editorial coverage.
The gap: Booking funnel (43.2) and trust signals (41.2) are the weakest areas. Schema completeness at 0.6% is the lowest of any market — virtually no Slovenian property uses structured data. This is both a problem and an opportunity: being first to implement schema in Slovenia means standing out dramatically.
